Honeywell20.04.2010 Brief
In a bid to expand into the Balkans, Honeywell, an international diversified technology and manufacturing company was on the lookout for industrial and logistics space in Bulgaria. With Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) as its global partner for commercial real estate advisory, Honeywell approached the JLL office in Romania with a requirement of 3 000-5 000 sqm, preferably close to the northern city of Ruse. With no local office, JLL approached Forton International with a partnership proposal.
Solution
Forton’s Industrial & Logistics Team took up the offer and shortly thereafter it welcomed a team of experts from Honeywell on their first site visit to see available properties near Ruse. At the time, the industrial & logistics property sector was developing fast and the picture would not have been complete without a review of other quality developments throughout the country. Follow-up tours gave Honeywell first-hand information about alternative sites in Plovdiv and Sofia. Finally, the company selected Sofia Airport Center.
Forton performed the entire process of lease negotiations at the best market rent levels at that time. Meanwhile, our in-house architect helped Honeywell adjust the hall to meet its functional requirements and allocate space for a showroom.
Conclusion
Currently Honeywell occupies prime industrial and logistics space under a long-term lease agreement in a highly accessible location. In addition, the direct proximity of Sofia Airport Center to the airport, business hotels and dining facilities ensures that guests are well looked after on their visits to Bulgaria.
